We’re an indie-folk, alternative band based in Tokyo, Japan. Our members hail from the UK, Japan, Canada, and the US. We started as a folky duo, but as we have added new members and instruments (drums, bass, trumpet, sax, banjo, mandolin…) the sound has become quite eclectic, covering indie-folk, alternative country, indie, 1920s, ska…basically anything that will get people dancing.
Over the last few years, we’ve had several highlights. We have been selected as one of the top 100 unsigned live acts by LA’s Music Connection magazine. One of our songs was chosen as one of the top 30 tracks on BBC Sheffield introducing. Another track was featured by Tom Robinson on BBC Radio 6. Other tracks have featured on an NBC sitcom, CNN travel programs, a Hallmark channel movie, as well as plays on radio in the UK, Japan, and Canada. Our latest CD, “The Good Life” is available nationwide in Japan in HMV and Tower Records stores.
However, playing live is what we love most. We play regularly in Tokyo and further afield in Japan. Although we are an entirely English-singing band, we attract a decent and loyal live following, hopefully due to our enthusiasm and desire to get people dancing, Consequently, we have been fortunate to play regularly at summer festivals, including Asagiri Jam, Happy Farm, and Surf Jam. Additionally, we’ve done in-store performances at HMV, we’ve performed for Sofar Sounds, and recently have played at events at some iconic venues over here including at the top of Tokyo Tower and inside Tokyo Station.
